Το παλιό διαμέρισμα στο κέντρο της Αθήνας, στην οδό Ιπποκράτους, μεταμορφώθηκε εντυπωσιακά. Τα 45 τ.μ. μιας κατασκευής των 60s χρειάζονταν ριζική ανακαίνιση και αυτό ανέλαβαν να κάνουν οι do designers Ντενίζ Βασιλειάδου και Ουρανία Γιαβή. Το στενό χολ, η συρόμενη πόρτα στο living room, οι τοίχοι που περιέκλειαν μια μικρή κουζίνα και το μωσαϊκό εξαφανίστηκαν. Μαζί τους και ένα τμήμα του τοίχου που χώριζε την κρεβατοκάμαρα από το σαλόνι. Η είσοδος γίνεται τώρα κατευθείαν στον κύριο χώρο του σπιτιού ο οποίος ενώνεται οπτικά με το υπνοδωμάτιο μέσω μιας τζαμαρίας. Η νέα διαρρύθμιση σε συνδυασμό με τους λευκούς τοίχους και τo λευκό ξύλο στο δάπεδο χαρίζει ένα φωτεινό και ενιαίο αποτέλεσμα με ανοιχτό ορίζοντα, ενώ η ιδιωτικότητα στην κρεβατοκάμαρα επιτυγχάνεται με ένα γκρι ρόλερ πίσω από την τζαμαρία.
«Θέλαμε να δημιουργήσουμε έναν λευκό καμβά, πάνω στον οποίο να έχουν πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο τα χρωματιστά κιλίμια, τα έπιπλα και τα παραδοσιακά στοιχεία που τόσο αγαπούσε η ιδιοκτήτρια» μας είπαν. Μοναδική εξαίρεση ο πετρόλ τοίχος πίσω από το κρεβάτι που προσδίδει βάθος. Οι ειδικές κατασκευές της ανακαινισμένης κατοικίας, έπιπλα κουζίνας, βιβλιοθήκες, μπουντουάρ και τα έπιπλα μπάνιου σχεδιάστηκαν από τις designer Ντενίζ Βασιλειάδου και Ουρανία Γιαβή. Στο μπάνιο χρησιμοποιήθηκε πλακάκι και πατητή τσιμεντοκονία, ενώ τη θέση της παλιάς μπανιέρας πήρε ένα σύγχρονο ντους. Επιπλέον αποθηκευτικός χώρος δημιουργήθηκε με έναν πάγκο στην είσοδο του διαμερίσματος και μια ντουλάπα στο διάδρομο, ενώ στα μπαλκόνια τα ψηλά φυτά χαρίζουν αίσθηση κήπου. Όλα αυτά για να ικανοποιηθεί με δημιουργικότητα και φρέσκια οπτική το κυρίαρχο αίτημα, το πάντρεμα δηλαδή του folk στοιχείου με τη σύγχρονη ατμόσφαιρα, ώστε να αναδειχθεί ένας νέο-εθνικ χαρακτήρας.

Τhe old apartment in the center of Athens, at Ippokratous Street, was transformed impressively. The 45 m2 flat, built in 60s needed a radical renovation and this was undertaken by DO DESIGNERS Denise Vasiliadou and Ourania Giavi. The narrow hall, the sliding door in the living room, the walls that enclosed a small kitchen and the mosaic disappeared, as well as a section of the wall separating the bedroom from the living room. The entrance is now directly into the main space of the house, which visually joins the bedroom through a window. The new layout combined with white walls and white wooden floor produces a bright and uniform result with openness while privacy in the bedroom is achieved by a gray roller behind the glass partition.
“We wanted to create a white canvas on which the colorful rugs, the furniture and the traditional elements that the owner so much loved played the leading role”. The only exception is the stone wall behind the bed that adds depth. The special constructions of the renovated home, kitchen furniture, libraries, boudoirs and bathroom furniture were designed by designer Denise Vassiliadou and Ourania Giavi.
In the bathroom tile and pressed cement was used, while the old bathtub was replaced by a modern shower. Additional storage space was created with a bench at the entrance of the apartment and a wardrobe in the hallway, while the balconies of the tall plants give a sense of garden. All this in order to satisfy with the creativity and fresh view the dominant demand, the combination of the folk element with the modern atmosphere, in order to create a new ethnic style.
