Σχεδιασμός, κατασκευή και εκθεσιακός χώρος κάτω από μια στέγη, αυτό είναι το d.Mod. H συλλογή του d.Mod φέρ- νει μια νέα πρόταση στο χώρο του επίπλου. Σύγχρονη με φρέσκια γραμμή και πολυμορφικό χαρακτήρα, όλη η εικόνα της εταιρεί- ας, από τα σχέδια ως το e-shop είναι απόλυτα προσεγμένη, με προσήλωση στη λεπτομέρεια. Ο σχεδιαστής και συνιδρυτής του εγχειρήματος, Γκάυ Στεφάνου, μας εισάγει στον τρόπο σκέψης του και ουσιαστικά στη φιλοσοφία της ομάδας του d.Mod. «Τα πάντα προκύπτουν από μια χρηστική ανάγκη. Από εκεί περνάμε στην επί τόπου αποτύπωση στο υλικό και δημιουργούμε το πρωτότυπο αντικείμενο, βελτιστοποι- ούμε τις διαστάσεις και το προϊόν βρίσκει τη θέση του στο e-shop μας.» Ο λιτός, βιο- μηχανικός σχεδιασμός και οι λεπτομέρει- ες που κάνουν τη διαφορά, δημιουργούν μια συλλογή επίπλων, φωτιστικών και αντικειμέ- νων που μπορούν να ταιριάξουν σε κάθε χώρο.

Design studio, workshop, showroom and e-shop, d.Mod (Design MODules) breathes a new air in the Greek furniture industry. Guy Stefanou is the chief designer and the company’s co-founder, and we got a chance to pick his brain. “We developed our series of furniture having in mind the need for transformation and modularity. These are items designed to compliment every setting as, although sleek and contemporary, they bear a direct reference to classic beauty.” He mentions the term “friendly industrial” and indeed it fits the essence of the objects very well. They have a line that is simultaneously cool and fresh but also inviting and homely. Their living room styled showroom makes it clear right away. These items balance carefully in the fine line between the elegance of their design and the limits of their material’s properties. The company is very similar to their furniture, fully adaptable. Hosting their metal and wood workshop under one roof, they are certain to cover even the most demanding of needs. On my questioning about his creative process he explains: “Each object starts from a necessity that needs to be dealt with. The prototype is then refined, reaches its final form and takes its place in our e-shop.” His team explains that he is rarely seen with pen and paper. Highly technical, spontaneous and innovative, he works his way through directly working on the materials at hand. And what would be the strongest element of d.Mod. He points directly to his team. “d.Mod is a process and we view it as such. It’s not only a business venture but the creative work of a whole team that, above all, enjoys what they are doing. This is the reason why we have established events and other activities in our showroom. We want to enjoy d.Mod together with friends.”
