Tο αρχιτεκτονικό γραφείο τoυ Αθανάσιου Κυρατσού επιμελήθηκε την πλήρη ανακαίνιση του εστιατορίου Principote στην παραλία του Πάνορμου, στην Μύκονο. Η μποέμ πολυτέλεια, η ανεπιτήδευτη γοητεία και ο τυχαίος σνομπισμός που χαρακτήριζαν την προκάτοχη κατάσταση, λειτούργησε καταλυτικά στην ανάμνηση και τη συνέχεια του χώρου με κυρίαρχο όμως στόχο την αναβίωση του ελληνικού κυκλαδίτικου πνεύματος μέσα από μια πολυεθνική κομψότητα και μια τάση εκσυγχρονισμού, που άλλωστε χαρακτηρίζουν το συγκεκριμένο νησί.

Καταλυτική πηγή έμπνευσης αποτέλεσε και το κάθε κοσμοπολίτικο στοιχείο που παραπέμπει στην ανατολίτικη αλλά και δυτική κουλτούρα

Σκοπός των αρχιτεκτόνων ήταν η διατήρηση του φυσικού κάλους και των οικολογικών απαιτήσεων του τόπου σε συνδυασμό με την επιμελημένη και προσαρμοσμένη σε αυτόν αισθητική. Η οικολογικής συνείδησης, μελέτη διατήρησε στο ακέραιο τον υδροβιότοπο, την παραλία και τα βράχια ενώ προέβλεπε απλές τεχνικές επεμβάσεις με στόχο το δέσιμο και την ομοιομορφία των παλιών και νέων, φυσικών, σχεδόν ακατέργαστων υλικών όπως το ξύλο, τα βότσαλα και τα σχοινιά. Οι εσωτερικοί χώροι είναι περιορισμένοι και έτσι σε μια μεγάλη έκταση εξωτερικών χώρων διαφορετικών χρήσεων και απαιτήσεων έπρεπε να αντιμετωπιστούν τα φυσικά φαινόμενα του κλίματος των Κυκλάδων με τις έντονες ηλιοφάνειες και τους δυνατούς ανέμους. Με απλά μέσα και υλικά καλύφθηκαν οι διαφορετικές ανάγκες σκίασης για κάθε σημείο του χώρου και κάθε ώρα της ημέρας ώστε να δημιουργούνται κατάλληλες συνθήκες θερμικής άνεσης και παράλληλα να εξασφαλίζεται η εσωτερική κυκλοφορία του δροσερού αέρα χωρίς να δημιουργούνται δίνες. Δόθηκε επίσης προτεραιότητα στον σχεδιασμό και στη διατήρηση της οπτικής άνεσης από οποιοδήποτε σημείο. Η όλη κατασκευαστική φιλοσοφία του έργου εκφράζεται από την αλληλουχία «κατασκευή τοπίο νερό».

Όλες οι κατασκευές είναι λυόμενες χωρίς τον χαρακτήρα μονιμότητας 

Το Principote χαρακτηρίζεται από τη φινέτσα ενός λιτού και μη επιβεβλημένου μοδάτου ύφους, χωρίς γραφικότητες και λαϊκίστικες εκφράσεις. Ένα σύνολο ενταγμένο στη λιτή ομορφιά του κυκλαδίτικου τοπίου, με διαφορετικές ταχύτητες και χρήσεις. Από τους ξεκάθαρους χώρους εστίασηςμαζικός, private και vipμέχρι τους φιλόξενους και άνετους χώρους lounge και από τον κεντρικό χώρο διασκέδασης μέχρι και την παραλία ο επισκέπτης συναντά ευκρινείς προορισμούς μέσα από μια ώσμωση δραστηριοτήτων.

TThe architectural office of Athanasios Kiratsos has been responsible for the complete renovation of the Principato restaurant on Panormos beach in Mykonos. The boheme style luxury, the unpretentious charm and the random snobbery that characterized it previously, functioned catalytically in the past and the future of this place, but with the main aim of reviving the Greek Cycladic spirit through a multinational elegance and a trend of modernization, characteristic of this island.

A catalytic source of inspiration was also the cosmopolitan element that characterizes both eastern and western culture

The aim of the architects was to preserve the natural beauty and the ecological requirements of the place in combination with the elaborate and customized aesthetics, the coexistence of the project with the environment and the local climate and the exploitation of the facilities by taking advantage of the benefits of this relationship. The ecological awareness of this project kept untouched the wetland, the beach and rocks while introducing simple technical interventions aimed at the bonding and uniformity of old and new, natural, almost raw materials - such as wood, pebbles and ropes. The interior spaces are limited and so in a large area of outdoor spaces of different uses and requirements, the natural phenomena of the climate of the Cyclades with the intense sunshine and the strong winds had to be addressed.

All structures are removable without giving the impression of permanency

Using simple means and materials, the different shading needs were covered for every point of the area and every hour of the day in order to create appropriate conditions of thermal comfort while ensuring the internal circulation of cool air without creating vortexes. At the same time, priority in design was given to the maintenance of visual comfort from any point, despite the interventions as the whole constructional philosophy of the project is expressed by the sequence «construction - landscape - water». Principote is characterized by the finesse of a simple and non-imposing fashionable style, without graphic and populist style. It is integrated into the austere beauty of the Cycladic landscape, with different speed and uses. From the well-defined dining areas (mass, private and vip) to the cozy and comfortable lounge areas and from the main entertainment area to the beach, the visitor can find distinctive destinations through an osmosis of activities.
